"hello, it's e from the eels hijacking xfm, and that was actually the moog cookbook remix of the eels' song novocaine for the soul, and they're friends of ours and they did that version. i really like that version- my favourite part is the solo is actually a car alarm, err it's an american car alarm, i don't know if it sounds quite the same in england. but, i thought that was pretty inventive. and before that we heard dog faced boy, from the new eels album, souljacker, and i'm here playing some eels oddities and whatnot because i have had not time to listen to any other music in the year since i've been here. err, coming up next here, let's play a tune from, umm, there's an eels live album from our eels orchestra 2000 tour, last year, that you can only get on our website, which is, i believe, eelstheband.com, and the song i'd like to play is, let's see, why don't we play one called feeling good. it's a song made famous by nina simone, and this is, i think this was actually taken from when i was on tour with fiona apple in america, this particular verion." -feeling good (oh what a beautiful morning version). "hello my little friends, this is e from the eels back hijacking xfm once again, and i'm playing you some of my favourite eels oddities, or whatever ones the record company could drudge up from the archives, and also a few tracks from our new album souljacker. and we just heard one of my favourites off of souljacker that i did with the great john parish, and a song called that's not really funny. and it's not really funny is it? that's a song that is dealing with the pain and the insecurity of the macho man. of the modern macho man. and i felt like he need a voice in pop music, so i gave it to him. and before that we heard a track from the eels live album, oh what a beautiful morning, and the title track, daisies of the galaxy from the album daisies of the galaxy. but, err, a different version that you may have heard before. and now, moving right along, here's a version of a song that elvis presley made popular, and millions of people have covered it over the years, and i'm no exception to that rule- i covered it also. and it's one of the b sides on the new souljacker part one single, one of the versions of it anyway. and this is, well, i think, let's just play it." -can't help falling in love. -fresh feeling (live xfm session version, like the version they played on tour). -woman driving, man sleeping. "this is e from the eels, in fact hijacking xfm. this is one of my favourite b sides of all time in the eels catalogue. it's actually called the flyswatter, it's called the polka dots remix of the song flyswatter, and what it actually is is a professional polka band doing our song flyswatter. and they are actually butch's, our drummer butch's, cousins, who live way out in the sticks (?) in minnisota (? again), and they did a real amazing version of it. and they're the real thing. they're all like in their sixties, they're not, y'know, some spring chickens just having a weekend lark. they're a real professional polka band, and here they are doing our song flyswatter. -flyswatter (polkda dots remix).
